Never a dull day in this business – now BMC buys Tideway

Monday, October 19th, 2009

We’ve definitely seen an increase in M&A activity recently.

CA acquired NetQoS
Compuware acquired Gomez

And now today BMC has acquired Tideway.

Add one to Nimsoft's customer count today and subtract one from BMC's

Big thanks to our newest customer today. A very long and thorough evaluation process and a great decison to replace an incumbent competitor with Nimsoft.

In a taxi in NY right now trying to get to JFK for my flight home.

It’s cold!!!

More great travel

3.45am Pacific Time. Standing outside JFK in the rain and cold getting a taxi. Don’t you love it!

Is there really not a private jet service that would like to donate it to me for free? I promise to blog about how wonderful it is every time…

Will even give you a banner ad on the Nimsoft web site.

Oh of course. I’m little ole me not Michael Jordan.

Additional funding for Groundworks

Tuesday, October 13th, 2009

Wow….$29m in total funding….that’s a lot for the amount of revenue being generated. Hope their OEM strategy works for them.

Open source systems management vendor GroundWork Open Source has announced that it raised $5m in a fourth round of funding led by Canaan Partners and including past investors Mayfield, JAFCO Ventures and SAP Ventures. GroundWork provides a free community version as well as a paid subscription version of its aggregated suite of open source systems monitoring and management software. It recently released an updated Monitor 6.0 centered on a new OEM strategy and also began to participate in the Microsoft System Center Alliance program. GroundWork says the latest investment, which brings its total funding to date to $29.3m, will be used to bolster its Monitor products and fuel community and global market growth.

Is anyone still doubting us? Huge growth combined with positive cash flow and profitability.

Tuesday, October 13th, 2009

We issued our Q3 results this morning….and what an incredible quarter we had.

Monthly Recurring Revenue – which is one of our key performance indicators rose 60% from the prior year.

The other key indicator, cash flow, was again positive for the quarter – which makes every quarter of 2009 so far.

And our “backlog”, which are committed contracts and orders from customers that have yet to flow to the Income Statement (and in many cases yet to flow to cash) was up over 70% to nearly $40m.

Incredible customer satisfaction and return on investment drives success.

Can anyone still doubt that this simple formula will continue to drive Nimsoft to greater and greater heights. I’ve already heard of “emergency meetings” at some of Big-4 to figure out tactics to try and compete with us. I don’t think we lost a single competitive evaluation last quarter.

WW Sales & Company update

Sunday, October 11th, 2009

Sales training started today (thanks to everyone for giving up their weekend). So far so good. Everyone is buzzed about the October 20th announcement that are coming.

Too hot!

The work never seems to stop right now…October 20th coming soon

Friday, October 9th, 2009

After a manic end of quarter, the workload has….kept increasing.

I know we’ve got tons of stuff going on right now but….even so.

Did I tell anyone….MAJOR NIMSOFT NEWS COMING OCTOBER 20th….it will make partners cheer, customers will be amazed, analysts will be positively analytical, the press will write about it and, on the night of October 20th, sobbing will be heard in many parts of the world as our competitors cry themselves to sleep (don’t worry guys….we’re hiring…..but only the good ones).

I know I’m a tease and believe me, I really really want to spill the beans, but this one is too big and too groundbreaking.

Meanwhile, we’ve got a business to run….and I’ve got back to back meetings all day today – yuk!

9th fastest growing company in Silicon Valley

Thursday, October 8th, 2009

Went to the award ceremony tonight for the Silicon Valley Business Times fastest growing company award.

We came in 9th…measured as growth over the last 3 years. Good stuff, particularly when you consider that this is the home of the fast growing start-up.

We’ve got another award coming next week from the San Francisco business times.
