Major new customer win….against IBM

Friday, February 26th, 2010

Congrats to the Europeans….a big new customer signed today (a really, really good customer win against all the big boys)

Sorry IBM, haven’t you figured out that trying to inject FUD at the last minute doesn’t work against us?

Our customers think our product, our support and our value are all superior .

Exciting – new offices

Friday, February 26th, 2010

Wow….finally we are moving out of our Chertsey digs today in the UK.

Only 1 1/2 hours left for those offices – they have served us well for many years.

But, as of Monday we are going to be in our new offices in central London – right off the Strand. All fitted out to our specs and I even authorized us paying for a new conference table :)

Seriously, it’s amazing to see how this company grows and evolves. I will be in the UK next week to see for myself – meanwhile here’s a picture of the entrance (what an amazing photo)

Enigmatec down, CA buys, EMC out, VMware in

Friday, February 26th, 2010

What a week.

Enigmatec into receivership in the UK

CA buys cloud vendor 3Tera

EMC sells a bunch of its systems management products to VMWare – and retains the rights to resell them….hmm… was never a complete portfolio, more a mish mash of acquired technology with nothing to stitch it all together.

Wonder what next week will bring? Clearly a ton of activity and positioning…everyone realizes that the pot of gold at the end of the cloud is a huge one…

The next-generation of IT management software and implications for incumbents – Goldman Sachs

Saturday, February 20th, 2010

I love my job. I get to do such fun stuff.

On Friday, together with Fred Luddy at Service-Now, I was invited to speak on a conference call sponsored by Goldman Sachs analyst Derek Bingham entitled:

“The next-generation of IT management software and implications for incumbents”

You can listen to the replay of the event on the number below

It's not all rosey – Enigmatec hits hard times

Saturday, February 20th, 2010

UK based process automation vendor, Enigmatec, appears to have gone into receivership in the UK last week. This would be a huge shame because I know they had some excellent customers that were using the product for provisioning private cloud environments.

Hopefully the technology and people find a good home.

Alpha, alpha….

Wednesday, February 17th, 2010

Yes, today is the day that we did the first alpha install of a brand new offering (early feedback is good, but, still got a long way to go)

I’m afraid that this is one of those teaser blogs. We have a big launch planned for early April so I’m not allowed to let the cat out of the bag, but it is yet again an “industry first”….Nimsoft is pioneering.

I remember a Gartner note of a couple of years ago stating that most companies were not innovating in this space.

Nimsoft is showing them the way.

100 million ways to be wrong

Tuesday, February 16th, 2010

Not sure what made me remember this, but I was thinking the other day about when I decided to start this business.

I needed a partner (others may say a poor, unsuspecting technician that would make it all work) so I had lunch with a friend of mine that I’d worked with in the past.

I told him my vision for the company to which he replied “Monitoring software? Surely everyone that needs monitoring software has already bought it? How could we possibly compete with the big guys?”

I had to spend the rest of lunch telling him that he needed to deliver amazing customer service and I would worry about the rest. He reluctantly agreed (it helped that he was out of work at the time….actually I think that was the only reason).

And now, 7 years later, he is still with us, still delivering amazing customer satisfaction and, as our CFO told me a few months back, we surpassed $100m in sales and are still accelerating.

Funny how things happen (wonder if he still thinks that nobody needs new monitoring software – LOL)

Thanks PR. Keep delivering amazing customer service and we will continue to accelerate our business.

Nimsoft cutomers soar in the latest MSPmentor 100 list

Monday, February 15th, 2010

Take a look at the MSPmentor 100 just published

Nimsoft customers are storming up this list. 3 out of the top 10 are large Nimsoft customer/partners….one of which moved up 30 places from last year, and the other 2 were not even in the list last year (from nothing to top 10….nice!)

Then you look at the top 20 and….6 of them are Nimsoft customer/partners. In the 11-20 category, one stayed at a similar position and the other 2 Nimsoft customers moved up 65 and 67 places respectively.

So, 6 Nimsoft customers in top 20…..

Brand new
Brand new
Up 30 places
Same as last year
Up 65 places
Up 67 places

Pretty clear what’s going on….using Nimsoft helps you grow your MSP business profitably which in turn, increases your ranking on lists such as this one.

Congratulations to all.

Finally de-icing

Thursday, February 11th, 2010

After a mere 3 hours in this gorgeous window seat on this amazing tube of metal – we are finally at the de-icing area…meaning we may take off in the next 30 mins.

Meanwhile our travel agent sent me this…happy that I decided to drive to Santa Barbara and not fly anywhere this weekend.

Blizzards Create Travel Chaos
Synopsis: In what has become the most significant disruption to the nation’s air transportation system since the terror attacks of 9/11, airlines cancelled nearly 5,000 flights as a result of major snowstorms
raging across the Midwest and East Coast of the United States. Expect irregular operations to persist through at least Friday.
