Nimsoft for Managed Service Providers continues to gain momentum

Tuesday, March 30th, 2010

Congrats to the new customers that came on board today.

Of these, we had 4 new Managed Service Providers that we welcomed to Nimsoft. The Managed Service Provider market continues to show good strength and it feels as though Nimsoft is established as the monitoring solution of choice for MSPs that have scale or are looking to grow their business.

After all, we know this market very well and we know how great our product is.

In conjunction, we announced GA on the new version of our Service Delivery Portal and also a new version of our Unified Reporting solution.

Lots more product releases over the next few days and our major announcement coming up in a couple of weeks.

Busy day today catching up on some of those things that I haven’t managed to do for the last few months.

Went to flag football practice with my son but….the coach failed to show up :) Bought the two eldest kids guitars because their lessons start tomorrow. I’m signing my son up for Pop Warner – that will be an interesting experience whether he’ll make it through the season.

Now, off to Sharks hockey; got invited to a box so should be fun with all the family.

3 more days in the quarter.

Did I mention that Utd won and Arsenal drew…..what a set up for Man U vs Chelsea next weekend – game of the season.

We continue to be looking for quality people in multiple areas – you can see the positions on our web site.

If you want to be part of the greatest revolution in IT management, then email us, resumes@nimsoft.com

And….someone told me that we may be pushing our newly designed web site live tonight – be sure to check it out and give us feedback….

Our first week as part of CA has been….

….business as usual.

The development team are working like crazy to get their Q1 deliverables out (can you believe that our engineering leader told me the other day that it looks like they are going to hit 100% of their targets…clearly he hasn’t learned the art of managing my expectations….or maybe he just realizes that my expectations are always 100% anyhow).

The sales team are flying everywhere to finalize their quarter, I believe one of our reps ended up sleeping in an airport last night after getting snowed in – that’s commitment for you.

The marketing team are scrambling to put the final touches to the Nfluence user conference for April….and we’re getting involved in CA World in May which should be fun.

And many parts of the company are involved in planning for our major product launch in mid-April – lots of new support capabilities being rolled out as well.

As for me, I’ve got so much stuff spinning in my head about the endless possibilities that I think it’s going to explode. But, I’m going to take some vacation soon!

And, in case anyone cares, yes I am going to go to the Man Utd vs Chelsea match. It’s funny that Arsenal fans (Sean) think they are still in it; sort of like Liverpool last season. But actually, hats off to them, they are having a tremendous season.

End of quarter already?

Monday, March 22nd, 2010

It’s been such a busy time these last few months, I cannot believe how quickly the end of Q1 is upon us.

The next week and a half are going to be crazy but….I’ve got an important personal decision to make today.

I’ve been offered tickets to the Man Utd vs Chelsea game on Saturday week. Should I?

I may be in Europe anyhow….

Happy St Patrick's Day

It’s definitely a day to remember – the CA acquisition of Nimsoft closed today.

We will be running a customer webinar tomorrow to present our plans. If you are an active customer and don’t yet have details, please contact your account executive.

What I learned today…

New analyst report published on the CA/Nimsoft acquisition – see it here

But, I learned today that, GoGo InFlight internet is not fast enough to watch live streaming Champions League football (soccer). Unfortunately I learned that after I had paid my $9.99 to watch the match on FSC online.

I also spent several hours this morning with an incredible potential customer/partner. You just know how great some relationships are going to be based on the quality of the people.

Interesting blog post….

No idea who this blogger is, but take a look at this blog.

Short extract….

It is great to hear that Nimsoft will not be folded into CA but instead will be run as a separate business unit. However, instantly CA feels a bit more hip, in-touch, and ready to step-up to the challenges their customers face. Suddenly the chuckles of “they bought who” at IBM, HP, and BMC gave way to “holey s***, CA just bought Nimsoft!”

The Big-4 Alternative

Saturday, March 13th, 2010

Great that so many competitors are posting on the blog; unfortunately some are hiding behind their anonymity while pretending to be Nimsoft customers.

It seems that multiple people are trying to understand how, for many years Nimsoft claimed to be The Big-4 Alternative and now we are on the verge of being owned by CA.

That’s the whole point. Don’t we all see that CA are being forward thinking enough to be saying the same thing. They are saying that “there is a type of customer that wants and needs a different type of monitoring solution than we have provided in the past.”

Nimsoft will exist in the cloud business line at CA. Our roadmap is intact, in fact will be further added to and accelerated. Our sales and technical teams are intact and motivated like never before (just on my way back from the UK where our team is buzzing). Our commitment to unparalleled customer satisfaction has not and will not change.

CA have recognized that there are different sets of needs for different types of customers, and that Nimsoft is much more appropriate for emerging enterprises and service providers than some of the traditional products.

This is a huge testament to the vision of the executives at CA. It’s never easy being visionary and there are always many nay-sayers along the way, but this is a huge move that will redefine IT management.
