Now…that’s a long week

Friday, November 26th, 2010

Newark, Oslo, Amsterdam, Eindhoven, London, Aldershot, Godalming, London, Belfast, Dublin, New York, San Francisco

Well, I’m actually still at Dublin, so New York and then San Francisco are in my future. Talk about a lot of customer visits….very productive use of time but I’m shattered.

How do you do that much in a week?

Taxi, flight, bus, bus, flight, train, car, train, flight, taxi, car, flight, taxi, train, car, car, train, taxi, taxi, flight, taxi, taxi, flight, train, flight, taxi…….

Office 2011

Saturday, November 20th, 2010

Decided to upgrade to Office 2011 for the Mac today. Not sure why I would do this when I’m about to be out of our offices for a couple of weeks with no access to IT folks. Fingers crossed that it all works.

Oh…and I love the Xbox Kinect…very cool….you should see me dance to Poker Face….5 stars!

Kudos to the Euro team

Heading to Europe next week and if the amount of customer meetings that I’m attending is any indication of success then I’m happy.

Had to change my flights, now going to Norway first, then directly to the Netherlands, then in the UK for a couple of days and heading back to California on Saturday. Rumor has it that I may even be going back to UK again the following week for a day or two as well.

Anyone that knows Nimsoft should know that we are a company that likes to enjoy ourselves as well as doing a great job for our customers. So, holiday parties are already planned in multiple countries, we’re working on our incentive trips for next year and yesterday was the inaugural Thirsty Thursday in California. Nice job to my asst who arranged it….wonder if she’s going to be the new Nimsoft socialite?

It constantly amazes me how productive individuals can be when they are part of a motivated and excited team.

The art of blogging and how I don’t have it

Thursday, November 18th, 2010

Anyone will tell you that one of the keys to successful blogging is to post regularly and if this is true, then I’ve certainly failed that test.

Truth is that I’ve not been too well. I had a septoplasty on my nose to help my breathing, which by itself is painful enough, but I somehow managed to get a sinus infection while recovering….how dumb is that? Getting a sinus infection while recovering from nasal surgery is not the best idea I ever had.

Gotta tell you, probably the most painful week and a half of my life. And boring too as I pretty much couldn’t get out of bed and certainly not out of the house. But…lots of drugs later….and I’ve been back at work this week and catching up.

One of the most amazing things happening right now at Nimsoft is all the talent that we are attracting. We are hiring like crazy but managing to keep the quality level really high. Great new people joining our engineering team….some of the most respected engineers and architects in this business. A new VP Europe joined a few weeks ago that I’m really excited about. A new VP, Talent who has already made a huge difference and we’re making offers to many others that will be joining over the coming weeks.

The relationship with our CA counterparts is a good one and continues to improve all the time. It has been a little “unnatural” for many folks at CA to think of Nimsoft as independent but for the most part, everyone is accepting it, moving on and allowing us to just “get the job done”.

Our product roadmap is excellent and our ability to deliver against it continues. We’ve got some major, major news up our sleeves but that will have to wait for another day.

Anyhow, I’m back at work and, unlike most of America, will be working all next week as well. In fact, I’m going to Europe next week….after all why celebrate Thanksgiving when I could be working?

Seriously, my kids are with their mum for Thanksgiving so I thought that I’d use the time to visit our European friends. I believe that I have a completely jam packed week with customer visits….I’d better take those painkillers with me just in case of a relapse.

Now do you believe?

So under-rated…so not believed….congratulations to a huge team performance
