How to burn bridges…

Have an interview with a company that goes really well but…the company decides that you are not the right candidate.

So then, send the CEO an email telling him that he’s made a huge mistake, “don’t you want ‘A’ players?” and that instead of working for Nimsoft, “I’m going to work for a direct competitor of yours…’ll see”.

The way I read it when I receive one of those is:

1. Wow – we made the right decision on that person – high maintenance, emotional, insecure in his own abilities
2. I will never hire that individual in the future
3. Clearly feels that we dented his ego by saying no – sales people are meant to be able to take rejection

Saying no is not because we think you are not good at your job, it is simply that we don’t think there is a good fit.
