100 million ways to be wrong

Not sure what made me remember this, but I was thinking the other day about when I decided to start this business.

I needed a partner (others may say a poor, unsuspecting technician that would make it all work) so I had lunch with a friend of mine that I’d worked with in the past.

I told him my vision for the company to which he replied “Monitoring software? Surely everyone that needs monitoring software has already bought it? How could we possibly compete with the big guys?”

I had to spend the rest of lunch telling him that he needed to deliver amazing customer service and I would worry about the rest. He reluctantly agreed (it helped that he was out of work at the time….actually I think that was the only reason).

And now, 7 years later, he is still with us, still delivering amazing customer satisfaction and, as our CFO told me a few months back, we surpassed $100m in sales and are still accelerating.

Funny how things happen (wonder if he still thinks that nobody needs new monitoring software – LOL)
