Gary: I nearly purchased iPad Saturday — until an Apple Store employee gave me some great advice… I started mentioning 3G support and he mentioned how nice 3G iPad would be for car trips. I certainly agreed. Holding off now for 3G offering…

So, I’m with you….at least I was. But then, someone pointed out to me that I could get a Verizon MiFi and have multiple devices connected to it at the same time, AND not have to deal with AT&T 3G coverage (which in the Bay Area is horrible).
In fact, I have been told that you can have the MiFi on in your car, and all the kids can sit in the back on the internet for long journeys.
Plus of course the MiFi can be used for business.
So….instead of getting the inbuilt DVD and screen in the car, now I could get the kids iPads each with their own headphones….saving $$$.
Will let you know if it works out.

I’ve been a macvangelist since ’88, but remained skeptical about the iPad thinking it would just be a large-print iPhone, but after seeing them in action, with workable spreadsheet, doc, and deck functionality–not to mention wyse techs virtualized win7 machinery, well I’m sold. And with 4G already out in some markets, I too would rather use a mini hub than bother with a tethered internal connection.
